Well it's friggin hot over here. Humid sticky hot.

It's been cool seeing everybody though. I remember this place being huge but now it's kinda small. I gues it's like going back to your high school after all these years.

I'm just checking in, nothing overly exciting to report. We're suppose to hit this beach resort tomorrow so maybe I'll have some pics by the end of the week.

Oh yea, the plane ride totally sucked balls. I couldn't go to sleep at all. It just sucked. I'm not looking forward to tht plane trip back.

Launching in 5...4....

Ok so it's really not hat close. It's exactly 2:30am as I'm typing this. I'm trying to stick to my master plan of staying up late so I can get some sleep on the plane but I may have to crash soon. I'm whipped.

The flight leaves at 8:30 this morning and we'll probably leave the house way before that. I have a couple of hours to go. I have my major stuff packed but forgot little things at Richmond such as my headphones, my wireless card, and my hard to find hair gel. That's really going to fuck up my chi. I rely on that bad boy. I guess I can buy a different alternative back in the homeland or just rock the hat.

I'm a little bummed about leaving for the month though. Way too many cool things happening back at Richmond. Our company is having a Christmas party, the Geeks are having a Christmas thing, and of course the annual New Years bash. I'm not bitching, I'm just missing my peeps already I guess.

Another small thing that's bugging me is the company's foosball tournament. A friend of mine at work and myself are kicking butt. And this is after pulling teeth to have Danielle be my teammate. After 2 matches we have dominated our opponents. Straight out beat down. We only have allowed a max of 2 goals in a game. Yea, baby... beat down. It's too bad I have to bail. Another coworker is subbing in for me so you guys better bring home that trophy.

Well, I'm going to go lay down and probably fall asleep. I'll post every chance I get and upload some pics.

See you all next year my beloved American friends.

G-pad fo' life...

Yea, so I was saying how moving in with Teri was a bad idea, well, something happened. I really don't want to get into too much details but it's one of those things that you think your friends always have your back. I can't believe I'm referencing Survivor but in that race thing they did, some tribe members had the chance to jump to the other team. Mutiny, that's it. Some jumped, original tribe gets pissed. Yea, it was something like that. I somewhat felt betrayed, knife in the back sort of thing. Oh well, I'm glad it happened sooner than later.

I'm back to my original plans of waiting for a buddy of mine here at work for his lease to end on February. We'll then get a 2 room at Copper Mill. It'll still save me some cash and I'll still have the gym and whatever CM have to offer. I think it's a better idea.

My neighbor on the other hand is confusing the hell out of me. She stops by all the time and hangs out for 5 - 10 minutes then leaves. What gives? I've tried asking her out but she insists on getting whatever to go and dine back at her place. Ladies... please chime in.

Well, that's all the drama that's been going on.

home sweet.... huh?

I'm back at the old stomping ground here at Reston. P-brooke sent me here for a 4 day class on Comprehensive Intro to Networking. I mentioned something about taking classes every single review I had over there so they're finally doing something about it.

I got a room here at the fantabulouos Sheraton on Sunrise Valley. I was expecting the typical hotel room but damn, this place has a sub 40" LCD TV. Too bad no DVD player because I brought tons of my new movies. Unlike my Boston trip I can't go balls out here and order whatever I want. The Boston trip was being paid for by one of our clients.

One thing for sure, I don't miss NoVA traffic at all. It feels strange driving around. I'm familiar with everything but yet I feel like a tourist. I really don't know anyone close by. However, I do know a place where I always feel at home. BAJA FRESH baby! I devoured a Baja Burrito not so long ago. It's still on top of my list. I'm having dinner with Tere and Debbie tomorrow. The 2 lone people I somewhat kept in touch with. I'm still trying to open up my schedule for some Sweet Water Tavern... keep your fingers crossed.

The Tao of Steve

DUDE!! I totally pulled a Steve (I'll explain the Steve later). If you can refer back to my neighbor situation from entries here and here. I had to work late today so by the time I got home I was starving with no food in the house. Well I didn't feel like grocery shopping or just getting something to go. I wanted good food and company to enjoy it with. Out of nowhere, and I mean nowhere I got up from my geek seat and walked over next door. Knocked, and worked my magic. She let me in without even asking what I wanted. Just a friendly "Hey! come in, come in... how are you... yada yada." She then jumped on her coffee table and slowly started sliding off her top while looking deeply into my eyes. Ok, ok, I had to... right?

Back to the story. I then asked her if she wanted to have dinner with me. I explained to her how I didn't have any food at my place and wanted to see if she would join me. She smiled but refused because she was studying for her MCATs. However, she said she can have dinner at her place. Being the gentleman that I am, I asked what she likes and I would bring it over. She happened to like seafood and decided we were going to have Chinese food. SCORE! This is a good thing; A. she's not a total vegetarian, B. she digs SUSHI! Can you say, wazzzaaahhhbiii.

I get to the restaurant and looked over the menu searching for Orange Shrimp. Well Jebus Christ, they didn't have it. This turned out to be a good thing though, Polibus Maximus came through. I asked for sweet and sour shrimp without the sweet and sour sauce but the orange sauce. Just to cover my bases I also ordered vegetable stir fry so she'll have her options as well as 3 drinks to choose from. Mad props right? This also gave me an opportunity to get her number because it would have been useful.

Back at her place I presented her with her options. I swear it's like one of those things where you have a vision in your mind and it turned out the way you envisioned it. I could tell she was impressed. We ate, talked, laughed. We just had a great time. Knowing she had some studying to do, I left her the vegetarian stir fry and she gave me a full body hug (good lawd!) She also wrote down her cell number and gave it to me. :)

I'd have to say she's different. She doesn't listen to your typical radio music, she's a total environmentalist, and we disagree on some things. But hey, it gave us something to talk about. I also got a lot of good signs, touching, smiling, etc. Just an overall good vibe. I didn't even ask for her number, I just mentioned it when we were about to have dinner. She did give me her digits as I left without me asking for it. Damn skippy! It's about time a grew some balls.

So the Steve reference is from the movie The Tao of Steve. How all the cool guys are named Steve... Steve McQueen and such. A philosophy of how you want to be a Steve instead of a Stu. Steve gets laid, Stu gets rejected over and over again. :)

Bye bye G-pad

You know when you have an initial feeling about a good thing then kinda start doubting it? I'm going through that right now. As the title says, I'm not continuing my lease here at the G-pad. I'm moving in with Teri at her newly bought town house. Yea, sounds like a great idea. She's a bonafide hottie who I get along with, hey, why not? The truth is we're not really dating. We're friends and I have my reasons not wanting a relationship with her. This is where the doubt lies because she is damn attractive that any pubescent 30 year old would fall for.

I ask myself how would I feel when she brings over some dude? I do believe I can separate myself from that feeling and just put her on the "just friends" side. It won't be easy but I guess the ticket is to actively seek that special someone. Live my own life , yada, yada...

Anyway, let's go back why this is a good idea. The main reason I want to move in with her is because I will be saving an assload of cash that would let me fulfill my rockstar lifestyle. That is the truth. Shelling out $1100+ a month on your own is a wicked bitch. As much as I love this place, I'm willing to sacrifice that heartache. I also found out while having the <s>whipped</s> nice guy syndrome that I dig this home improvement bug that my geek friends have been raving about. I've been helping Teri paint the town house and it's surprisingly relaxing. Yet, my mind starts to wonder about this big move.

I miss my geek family.

Rocks!! It's kinda good at first, then it grows and grows on you. I've been listening to it non stop. It sounds like a mix of Machina and Gish. Total rock out tune.

They're playing 9 shows at Asheville, NC. Tickets went on sale on Sunday but damn Ticketweb wasn't prepared for the onslaught Pumpkinheads unleashed.
Bidness Trip - back home

My plan to update this every night during my trip didn't work out so well. My work buddy forgot his laptop charger so he had to barrow mine. We were at Boston to set up a Pharmaceutical construction site for on site screening. Meaning all new construction workers had to take drug tests and have his/her pic taken for a badge. My buddy took care of the pee collecting training and I was there to hook up the badging system that I researched and tested for the longest time. Then showed the EMT's and collectors the techy side of the job. Now it looks like our client wants security badging as well. So I should be back on the site after some training on the security system-niner.

I have to admit it felt more like a vacation to me. I mean all I had to do was hook up the system and various troubleshooting which is second nature to me. Then I had the liberty to abuse the company credit card that Carl (work buddy) held. We ate like champs the whole week especially at this place called Abe & Louise, a fancy steak restaurant. I had myself a fillet mignon which was del-f'n-icious. Definitely the best steak I've ever had. At the end of dinner we had racked up a $200 bill between the 2 of us. Thanks P-brooke!

Boston kicked ass. It was pretty much a college town with Boston University right there. Lots of hotties walking around town, lots. Like I said before, I wish I brought my camera. I think I can get used to living there. Well, maybe not. City traffic sucked balls and I'm pretty anal when it comes to my car. Great place to go bar hopping with some buddies. I'd go back in a heart beat. Correct that, I'd fly back in a heart beat. The 12 hour drive was somewhat agonizing.

bidness trip - cheesesteak

So I'm chowing down a $13 Turkey Panini Melt here at the Boston Hilton while writing this entry up on my $10 per day access. Oh man, can you feel the power? Everything is on the company! Talk about being spoiled.

We did have a brutal road trip on the way here but we also rewarded ourselves halfway through. We purposely went out of our way to Philly to have lunch at cheesesteak meca Pat's. This place is not what you call a "typical" restaurant. It's just a run down joint that you order through a glass window ala Brewsters. You then munch down the 9" cheesesteak on a picnic table outside. So what's on a real philly cheesesteak? Steak, onions, and Whiz as in Cheese Whiz. That's it. No lettuce, no mayo, no nothing, no nada. Even with just those ingredients, the damn thing was del-f'n-icious. There's nothing quite like it.

...except... Ginos! Which is just right across the street, literaly. I was asking my coworker which place was better since he lived in Philly before. He couldn't tell me so he offered a solution. A second round of cheesesteaks, this time at Ginos. We're talking about 2 - 9 inchers for lunch here people! Ridiculous but we had to, or I had to.

The place is exactly like Pat's but more colorful or mainstream. You have your colorful mainstream joint in Ginos, then you have the run down local joint. I personally enjoyed Pat's better. Not that Gino's was horrible, I thought Pat's had more flavor. Mmmm... good. I just wish I had my camera with me because it's so far the highlight of the trip. I highly recommend Pat's or both if you can afford the heart attack.

That's all for now. 3 more days to go.

clean up

I really need to clean my place up more often. You never know when an unexpected cute stranger knocks on your door and asks for help. Which was the case last night while I was cooking up some sausage omelet. (Sounds like an intro to pron scene huh?) She was trying to get in her apartment when the deadbolt broke on her.

She knocked on the G-pad (my apt.) and I was hesitant at first from answering thinking it was some magazine selling ex-druggie but I opened the door. She then tells me her story so I helped her out by giving her our apartment's service number. I let her in as she made her calls all the while embarrassed by messy ass place. She then proceeded to unbutton her shirt and slowly looks me up down while licking her lips in my imaginary pron scene. Since this is reality, that last thing I said didn't really happen.

She asked to check her email, I obliged. We talked about what we do, the usual get to know you stuff. She's a pre-med going for her masters at MCV (cha-ching!). I finished up my cooking and offered her some but she denied since she's a veggie. Doh! She then looked over my stacks of movies commenting on what she has seen and what she's interested in. She did say she loved Harold and Kumar, so that's a plus. She then saw The Notebook and made that awwww thing that you typically get from chic flicks... aka the Korte effect.

In my head I was tallying up all the points I've been racking up; the guitars for my bad ass side, the cooking for my homely side, then The Notebook for my <s>faggy</s> sensitive side. I also happened to make her laugh several times and she ended up leaving with a huge smile on her face. She also borrowed Little Miss Sunshine which I take as a this-is-not-over sign. Her name? Tarra, like the Sos' cat. Maybe I'm over hyping or over analyzing this but hey that's 2 connections with the Geeks right? Tarra and the whole veggie thing.

So I'll end this as, to be continued...
